Russia has successfully launched the latest intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), which was developed at the Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering (MIT, part of Roscosmos). The launch took place from the 1st State Test Cosmodrome of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, TASS reported on June 28, citing a source in the military-industrial complex.
"In mid-June, the latest unique ballistic missile developed by MIT was successfully launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome," the agency's interlocutor said.
In April, it became known that a wireless system for monitoring the condition of mine launchers with intercontinental ballistic missiles is being developed in Russia. As it was stated, an independent control system should be assembled from Russian-made components, have an extended service life of at least 15 years and data protection tools, as well as work offline for a long time.
In November 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with representatives of law enforcement agencies, said that the country would continue to modernize its strategic nuclear forces and strengthen all their components against the background of the current military and political risks.
Currently, the share of modern weapons in them is 82%. Nevertheless, according to the head of state, Russia is not going to get involved in a costly arms race, but is aimed only at ensuring national security.
