MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. The combat capabilities of the Central Military District (CVO) for the destruction of cruise missiles and the fire defeat of the enemy will be increased by re-equipping two aviation regiments with Su-34M and MiG-31BM aircraft, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"By the end of the year, the command of the military district will..> to re-equip two aviation regiments with modernized Su-34M front-line bombers and MiG-31BM long-range interceptor fighters, " Shoigu said at a meeting of the board of the Russian Defense Ministry on Friday.
According to him, these measures "will significantly increase the capabilities of the district for the fire defeat of the enemy and the fight against cruise missiles in the Central Asian strategic direction."
The Minister also noted that the district troops continue to provide active assistance to the subjects in eliminating the consequences of emergency situations. "In April, demolition work in eight regions prevented the threat of flooding of 46 settlements, where 230 thousand people live. In the Sverdlovsk and Tyumen regions, the district troops eliminated 26 fires with a total area of more than 4.5 thousand hectares, protecting 46 settlements from fire," Shoigu said.
"The district command pays considerable attention to solving social issues of military families. By the end of this year, 5,800 people will be provided with official housing, and 607 children will be provided with places in kindergartens and schools," the Defense Minister said.
