The crews of attack and military transport helicopters Mi-24 and Mi-8 of the Baltic Fleet destroyed the objects of the imaginary enemy-aircraft at the airfield, a command post and a column of armored vehicles.
The targets were destroyed at an aviation training ground with the use of unguided aircraft missiles and cannon weapons. When performing the task, the pilots operated at extremely low altitude using complex terrain.
As reported in the information support department of the press service of the Baltic Fleet, the flight and tactical exercise of the mixed helicopter regiment of the Baltic Fleet Naval Aviation unit was held in the Kaliningrad Region. It was attended by more than 20 Mi-24 and Mi-8 crews, as well as Ka-27 and Ka-27PS shipboard helicopters.
The pilots practiced launches of unguided aircraft missiles of various classes, firing from the cannon armament of helicopters, dropped torpedoes and bombs weighing from 100 to 500 kilograms, maneuvered during air combat and entered targets under the conditions of the use of electronic jamming by a conditional "enemy".
The pilots of the ship's helicopters worked out the search, tracking and classification of a simulated enemy submarine in the Baltic Sea using radar facilities and lowered sonar stations. Then the crews of the Ka-27 destroyed the "enemy" submarine from anti-submarine weapons systems.
The role of the submarine of the conditional enemy was performed by the diesel-electric submarine "Volkhov", now performing tasks at sea. Flights and practical bombing were carried out along the established route over the water area of the Baltic Fleet's sea range both during the day and at night.
