The new Russian passenger plane Il-114 will go into production in 2023, the head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, said at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

Il-114-300 – a fully domestic passenger aircraft, it is an upgraded version of the Il-114. It is intended for regional transportation, primarily in the domestic market. The airliner is equipped with Russian TV7-117ST-01 turboprop engines and is capable of transporting passengers at a distance of up to 1.9 thousand kilometers.

On the air of Sputnik radio, the former commander of the aircraft, a flight safety specialist, Alexander Romanov, said that the Il-114 has proven itself well, its new version will be more economical.

"What is good about it: the plane is turboprop, there will be very long flights, the plane can be used as a long-haul one. The IL-114 has proven itself well. During the entire operation of this aircraft, there was not a single accident with it in my memory. Of course, it will be updated: the avionics will be different, new engines. But the base of the aircraft, even the fuselage, according to my data, will remain the same. Four turboprop engines, coaxial-the aircraft will be very profitable, from the point of view of fuel," Alexander Romanov said.
