MOSCOW, June 24. /TASS/. The T-90S tank is the most commercially successful main battle tank in the world. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the Uralvagonzavod concern (UVZ, part of the Rostec state Corporation), which developed the car.
"Today, the T-90S tank is the most commercially successful tank on the world market - the number of exported vehicles, including machine kits for licensed production, is estimated in thousands of units," the UVZ informed during the International Exhibition of Weapons and Military Equipment MILEX 2021, held in Minsk.
As noted in the concern, the production of the T-90 of the latest modifications goes in parallel with the ongoing modernization of these machines, as well as T-72 tanks for both the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and for foreign customers. "The modernization involves improving the fire control system, strengthening the mine resistance of the bottom, unifying the chassis and engine with the T-90 tank and strengthening the armor protection of the tank. This refinement allows us to significantly increase the potential of the machine, bringing it in line with modern requirements for the tank," the press service reported.
The UVZ also added that the T-90MS tank is the next step in the development of domestic tank construction, taking into account the fact that "the modernization affected the entire complex of characteristics of the T-90S and allowed to significantly increase its combat and operational capabilities." This tank, labeled T-90M, began to enter the Russian army.
The press service of the concern noted that the latest generation tank from the T-90 series confidently surpasses its predecessors in terms of the main indicators that determine combat effectiveness. "These are, first of all, fundamentally increased fire damage capabilities, high protection from most anti-tank weapons, a reliable life support system and improved mobility. Thus, the export potential of the T-90MS is quite high. A number of countries are showing significant interest in this car, " the UVZ said.
The T-90S tank is equipped with powerful weapons, a modern fire control system, and reliable armor protection. It is designed to fight at any time of the day and in various natural and climatic conditions with tanks, self-propelled guns and other armored objects.
