The Korean company Hanwha Systems will develop flocks of drones for search and rescue operations under water. According to the Korea Herald, this is a joint project of the company with state research institutes. It is planned to be completed by 2025.
Rescue operations at sea can be hindered by bad weather, and information about the scene of the accident is incomplete. In such cases, sending people on a mission is risky. In addition, it is not always possible to do it immediately. But it's not just other people who can save people. Drones have been doing this successfully for several years: looking for climbers in cracks, delivering life rafts to surfers and extinguishing fires.
The Korean company Hanwha Systems will develop flocks of drones for search and rescue operations under water. The project was launched Korea Institute of Marine Science and Technology June 11. In addition to Hanwha Systems, several state research institutes participate in it: shipbuilding and oceanography, robotics and technological convergence, science and technology, as well as the University of the Seas and Oceans.
In this consortium, Hanwha will deal with algorithms for navigation and sonar systems. It is assumed that the flocks of drones can be monitored in real time. It is planned to complete the development by 2025. Other details about the project are not disclosed.
Hanwha Systems not only develops drones, but also participates in the creation of laser weapons against them. Earlier we wrote about its laser generator for a short-range air defense system.
