The defense attache at the British Embassy in Moscow was summoned to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation after an incident involving a British destroyer violating the borders of Russia. This was reported on June 23 in the Ministry of Defense.
"In connection with the violation of the state border of the Russian Federation by a British Navy destroyer, the Russian Defense Ministry has summoned the defense attache at the British Embassy in Moscow," the ministry told reporters.
Earlier on Wednesday, it was reported that the Black Sea Fleet of the Navy together with the Border Service of the FSB of Russia on June 23 stopped the violation of the state border by the destroyer URO "Defender" of the British Navy.
It is noted that the destroyer was previously warned about the use of weapons in case of violation of the state border of the country, but there was no reaction from the ship's crew. In this regard, the border patrol ship performed a warning firing.
Four high-explosive bombs were used to stop the actions of the British ship.
On May 27, the head of the FSB Border Service, Vladimir Kulishov, spoke about the expulsion of a British Navy ship from Russian territorial waters near the Crimea in October 2020. This decision he explained by the fact that the demands to immediately leave the territorial sea of Russia, the captain of the destroyer said about the poor reception of the signal.
In April, the British edition of The Times, citing sources in the military department, told about the UK's plans to send two ships of the country's Navy to the Black Sea in May. According to the source of the newspaper, in this way the kingdom will demonstrate its support to Ukraine against the background of tension on the Russian-Ukrainian border.
