ST. PETERSBURG, June 23. /TASS/. JSC "Admiralty Shipyards" will begin mooring tests of the ice-class patrol ship "Ivan Papanin" of project 23550 at the end of 2022. This was announced to TASS during the International Naval Salon (MVMS-2021) by the general director of the enterprise Alexander Buzakov.
"Mooring tests of the lead patrol ship of the ice class "Ivan Papanin" are scheduled for the end of 2022. It is planned to enter the factory sea trials in the third quarter of 2023, " he said.
Speaking about another ship of this class, Buzakov said that "the launch of the second patrol ship "Nikolai Zubov" is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024."
According to open sources, the project 23550 "Arktika" ("Ermak") ice-class patrol ships are a series of Russian multi-purpose patrol ships of the 1st rank of the ice class for the Arctic with guided missile weapons of the near and far sea zones, with the capabilities of an icebreaker, a tug and a patrol-class ship. The ships of this project can be operated in any navigation zones from tropical to Arctic, overcoming the ice with the greatest thickness up to 1.7 m.
