The Ural-4320 became the platform for the installation of the British Rapier surface-to-air missile system.
The combat vehicle was demonstrated this month in the capital of Zambia, Lusaka, during a large-scale military parade dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the formation of the national armed forces.
On the Russian-made all-terrain vehicle, two launchers were installed at once, capable of using eight missiles that have the ability to hit targets at a distance of up to 6800 meters and altitudes of up to 3000 meters.
Previously, the air defense forces of this state had only towed versions of the Rapier, which also participated in this parade.
In addition to the complexes purchased in the UK, the skies of Zambia are also guarded by Soviet S-125M Pechora SAMs, ZSU-23-4 Shilka self-propelled guns, as well as various small-caliber automatic guns, including the ZU-23-2. Interestingly, most of the anti-aircraft and field artillery was towed by the "Urals".
