The largest contractor of the Pentagon, the American military-industrial corporation Lockheed Martin, offered Ukraine to buy from it the fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters, according to Defense Blog.
"The company can provide Ukraine with new fighters or upgrade used combat aircraft," the newspaper writes.
According to the Defense Blog, in the first case, we are talking about the sale of fighters of the Block 70/72 version, whose production in the United States began in November 2019. In the second case, it is proposed to upgrade the aircraft used by other countries to Block 70/72.
The publication notes that the F-16 Fighting Falcon in Ukraine can replace the Su-27 and MiG-29 aircraft.
In March, military commentator Anton Lavrov said that Ukraine's hypothetical purchase of fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighters produced by the American company Lockheed Martin "can only be welcomed."
In January, Christopher Miller, the acting Secretary of Defense, called the F-35 Lightning II program a piece of shit.
