Kiev. June 21. INTERFAX-UKRAINE-Ukraine and the United Kingdom have agreed on the joint construction of warships and bases for the Ukrainian Navy, the press service of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine reported.
"On June 21, in Odessa, on board the missile destroyer of the Royal Navy HMS DEFENDER, the Minister for Defense Procurement of the United Kingdom, Jeremy Queen, and the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Alexander Mironyuk, signed a memorandum on the maritime partnership project between the United Kingdom industry consortium and the Ukrainian Navy," the report says.
In particular, the memorandum provides for the joint design and construction of warships in Ukraine and the United Kingdom, the reconstruction of Ukrainian shipbuilding enterprises and the construction of two bases of the Ukrainian Navy.
In addition, the ceremony was attended by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Alexey Danilov, the First Sea Lord of Great Britain Admiral Tony Radakin and the British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons.
The participants of the ceremony watched the joint exercises of the Ukrainian, British and American military on board the ship.
