Moscow. June 18. INTERFAX-AVN-The flagship of the Black Sea Fleet (Black Sea Fleet), the Guards missile cruiser "Moscow" and the frigate "Admiral Essen" pass the Bosphorus and Dardanelles Straits.

"The detachment of ships makes a planned transition from Sevastopol to the Mediterranean Sea, where, in accordance with the previously approved plan, it will work out a set of tasks as part of the forces of the permanent grouping of the Russian Navy (Navy) in the far sea zone," the Black Sea Fleet said in a statement issued on Friday.

A Russian squadron operates in the Mediterranean on a permanent basis. It consists of a dozen and a half warships and support vessels.

In September 2020, the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation reported on the departure of the cruiser "Moscow" to the sea after the completion of scheduled repairs.

In April, the cruiser "Moscow" during an exercise in the Black Sea launched a cruise missile "Vulkan" at a target at a distance of 30 kilometers, it imitated the ship of a conditional enemy. According to the commander of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation Igor Osipov, after the successful firing, the cruiser was introduced into the permanent readiness forces of the Black Sea Fleet.

"Right now, this is the most serious ship in the Black Sea, "Admiral Viktor Kravchenko, the former chief of the Russian Navy's General Staff, told Interfax earlier.

The cruiser " Moscow "was laid down on the slipway of the Nikolaev Shipbuilding Plant named after 61 communards in 1976 as the missile cruiser"Slava". Launched on 27 July 1979. It combines high maneuverability, seaworthiness, speed, and is able to operate in remote areas of the World Ocean.

The ship is equipped, in particular, with 16 anti-ship missiles of the P-1000 Vulkan complex with a range of at least 700 km. Ammunition uses a combined flight pattern: part of the trajectory is overcome at a high altitude, and near the target it decreases. The ship is also armed with long-range S-300 "Fort" air defense systems, which allow for zonal air defense: to protect an entire area or squadron from enemy attacks.

"Admiral Essen" is equipped with long-range cruise missiles "Caliber "(Developed by the OKB "Novator", JSC "Concern of East Kazakhstan Region "Almaz-Antey").

"Admiral Essen", other Russian surface ships and diesel submarines from the permanent connection of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea in the past have repeatedly struck "Caliber" on militants in Syria.
