The international scientific lunar station of Russia and China will be deployed until 2035, then its operation will begin. This is reported in the presentation that the parties presented on June 16 at the International Conference on Space Exploration GLEX-2021, the video concept of the station was published on the YouTube channel of Roscosmos.
The roadmap for the creation of the station was demonstrated by Sergey Savelyev, Deputy Director General of the State Corporation for International Cooperation, and Wu Yanhua, Deputy Head of the Chinese National Space Administration.
According to the data provided, the first stage of the station's construction will last from 2026 to 2030, at which time it is planned to deliver samples of lunar soil and test the technologies of the station's command center.
During the second stage, from 2031 to 2035, it is planned to deploy systems in orbit and on the surface of the Moon related to providing the station with energy and communications.
At the third stage, it is planned to start operation of the facility.
The International Scientific Lunar Station is a complex of experimental research facilities on the surface and orbit of the Moon for conducting multidisciplinary scientific work.
Earlier, on April 23, the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA) announced a large-scale cooperation with Roscosmos to create an international research base on the moon.
The Global Space Exploration Conference was originally scheduled to be held in St. Petersburg on June 9-11, 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was postponed to 2021. The Forum is held annually in different countries. This year it takes place in St. Petersburg from June 14 to 18.
