MOSCOW, June 15. /TASS/. The Northern Sea Route will be constantly monitored by various satellites of the Russian space project "Sphere" by 2024-2025. This was announced by Oksana Wolf, Director of the Department of Advanced Programs and the Sphere Project of the State Corporation Roscosmos, at the XIV International Navigation Forum in Moscow.
"Within the framework of the Sphere program, it is planned to create a group that will provide constant monitoring of the Northern Sea Route. It's certainly not this year, not next year, but it's 2024-2025, " she said.
At the moment, the Arctic hydrometeorological and climate monitoring system has already been partially deployed, designed to monitor the climate and the environment in the Arctic region, including on the Northern Sea Route. The first satellite, Arktika-M, was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome in February and has already begun transmitting images.
