Green energy giants are facing a shortage of skilled workers to help them implement ambitious development plans, writes Bloomberg.

The shortage of labor can lead to problems for the industry, which plays a key role in reducing emissions into the atmosphere. The company for the search of employees for the field of renewable energy Taylor Hopkinson indicate that the situation with personnel requires urgent resolution.

"The market is growing very, very fast. We need to make sure that the right people come to a variety of projects in different regions, so that these projects develop and they do not have to be postponed," said the company's director, Clint Harrison.

Miguel Stilwell, head of one of the largest companies in the green energy sector, EDP Renovaveis, said that it is becoming difficult to find candidates. "There is a war for talent in the world. The renewable energy sector, given the expected strong demand, lacks people, " Stilwell explained.

Billions are now being invested in the industry. Solar power capacity is expected to triple by the end of the decade, and wind energy use is expected to more than double.

Students studying renewable energy at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona are often hired during their studies or immediately after receiving a diploma, according to the educational institution. Graduates go to work in countries such as Britain and Denmark. Companies in Asia and the US have to look for workers in Europe and the UK: they face a shortage of experienced employees, developing areas such as [...] energy production through onshore wind.

At the same time, in the UK, this direction will still lack about 200 thousand qualified employees by 2030, according to research data. It is expected that half of these vacancies will be closed with the arrival of specialists from the oil and gas sector.

The role of renewable energy is also growing in Russia. So, " Rosatom» It intends to increase the capacity of its network of wind power plants in the country by 300 megawatts in 2021. The company has already included the environmental direction in its global agenda and intends to focus even more efforts on this direction.
