Moscow. June 10. INTERFAX-Russian warships will be able to enter the Congo, and planes will be able to land on the territory of this country.
This provides for an intergovernmental agreement on military cooperation. The document, signed on October 24, 2019, entered into force on April 15, 2021. The text of the agreement was published on the official Internet portal of legal information on Thursday.
The agreement, in particular, provides for official visits of delegations, participation in military exercises, meetings of military experts, training and training of military personnel, as well as visits of warships and military aviation.
According to the document, Russia and the Congo will exchange information on defense issues, develop relations in the field of joint training of troops, exchange experience in the field of peacekeeping activities and cooperate in measures to combat terrorism and piracy.
In May 2019, Russia and the Congo agreed to send Russian military specialists to this country. Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said that in the Congo there is a large number of military and special equipment of Soviet production, which needs to be repaired.
