Moscow. June 10. INTERFAX-Diesel-electric submarines "Volkhov" and "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky" conducted training exercises in the Baltic Sea, the press service of the Baltic Fleet (BF) reported on Thursday.
"The crews of the submarines during the launch worked out planned joint tasks, during which, as part of the combat training activities, they performed torpedo firing and training mine laying in the combat training ranges of the Baltic Fleet," the report says.
It is noted that the crews of the submarines also conducted in-ship exercises on various types of training: the struggle for the survivability of the submarine, the organization of the daily activities of the crews and navigation in the surface and underwater position.
"We also worked out the elements of anti-mine support for the exit of submarines from the base point and evading retaliatory strikes of a simulated enemy in the training ground," the BF reported.
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Volkhov are submarines built for the Pacific Fleet. Currently, the submarines are working out tasks in the Baltic Sea before moving to their home base in the Pacific Fleet.
The contract for the construction of this series of submarines for the Pacific Fleet was signed in September 2016. The first ship, the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, was transferred to the Russian Navy on November 25, 2019. The Volkhov submarine, the second in the series, was handed over to the Navy on October 24, 2020.
