"Seventy-second" there are 92 pieces. According to some reports, they differ from conventional vehicles of this modification by new means of communication, a different type of track belts, which received asphalt shoes.
The soldiers of the Bolivarian Republic appreciate these tanks for their reliability, good protection and high firepower.
In the 70s, 82 AMX-30VS were received, as well as four armored repair and evacuation tractors.
This technique has long been considered not the most modern. The first attempt to somehow modernize it was made back in the 80s. Then they introduced a new fire control system with a laser rangefinder.
In the engine and transmission compartment, an American engine with a capacity of 750 hp and an automatic transmission appeared. Fuel tanks of increased capacity were also installed, which allowed to increase the power reserve to 720 km.
At the same time, the main drawback - a relatively thin armor by modern standards ( in the area of the gun mask 150 mm, in other places a maximum of 80 mm) - was never eliminated.
Already in the new century, the sighting system was again modified, navigation aids, an auxiliary power plant appeared, and tanks were "re-equipped" with other tracks. But the protection characteristics remained at the original level.
Currently, the AMX-30V is in service with the 11th Armored Brigade.
Recently, it was reported that a version of the AMX-13 light tank with six recoilless guns was created in Venezuela.
