The servicemen of the amphibious assault regiment in Stavropol received a battalion set of the latest equipment - 31 BMD-4M combat vehicles and eight BTR-MDM "Shell" armored personnel carriers. By the end of the year, three more sets of combat vehicles will be delivered under the rearmament program.
This is reported by the newspaper "Red Star". Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Lisitsky, commander of the Hero of Russia Guard amphibious assault battalion, noted that the new amphibious assault vehicle surpasses the previous models in mobility, cross-country capability and firepower. The new fire control system, according to him, allows you to quickly search for targets in any situation.
The commander of the guard company, Captain Igor Zhidkov, added that the BMD-4M "is focused on conducting maneuverable offensive and defensive combat operations."
The servicemen also noted that the BMD-4M has a more powerful engine, which allows it to develop a higher speed. "At the same time, it is easy to operate, as it is controlled by the steering wheel, not by levers. There is a box-machine gun, " - said the commander of the guard department, Sergeant Maxim Medvedev.
According to the gunner-operator of the Guard, Corporal Arkady Sheiko, the BMD4-M is much smarter than the BMD-2. The onboard computer, tank ballistic computer, night vision device, air pressure and temperature sensors allow you to fire at any time of the day and in any weather conditions. "It's a pleasure to work now," the gunner-operator said.
