At the Polish aviation training ground Nadarzyce, the pilot of a MiG-29 fighter from a 30-mm gun fired at another MiG-29, with which he was flying in a pair. The incident occurred on May 14 during an exercise.
According to Polish media, the car is damaged not only the fuselage, but also the structural elements of the aircraft. The damage caused to the fighter was confirmed by ground maintenance specialists. A special commission of the Polish Ministry of Defense will investigate the incident.
Previously, one of the reasons for the incident is called the inexperience of the pilot who opened fire. It is noted that today the level of combat training in the Polish Air Force is significantly reduced.
On the other hand, you should pay attention to the reliability of the MiG-29, which landed safely with holes from 30-mm shells. This once again confirms the reliability of Soviet-made equipment.
In addition, sources close to the Polish Air Force express doubts that the car will be able to return to service after repairs. Apparently, the aircraft repair plant No. 2 in Bydgoszcz, which will take over the restoration of the damaged MiG-29, is not able to qualitatively repair aircraft of this type. As you know, the company has long been engaged in "cannibalism" by moving spare parts from one aircraft to another and in some cases replaces them with surrogate ones. Since the beginning of the 90s, Poland has stopped all cooperation with the Russian fighter manufacturer RSK MIG Corporation and has lost the ability to fully service the aircraft. This is the result of the deterioration of relations between Warsaw and Moscow.
By the way, Belarus has the opportunity to repair and modernize MiGs. MiGs demonstrate their reliability and prospects as part of the Belarusian Air Force. Most of these aircraft have been upgraded and have the ability to refuel in the air, are able not only to destroy targets with air-to-air missiles, but also to hit infrastructure facilities with X-29 and X-25ML air-to-ground missiles.
The Baranovichi 558th Aircraft Repair Plant has all the necessary licenses for carrying out repair and modernization works, is located close and offers reasonable prices for its services. The Belarusian version of modernization is promising and economically feasible.
Welcome to the 558th Aircraft Repair Plant in Belarus!
