The prospects for manned space flights and the future of the International Space Station (ISS) will be discussed at the Global Space Exploration Conference GLEX in St. Petersburg. This was reported by TASS Deputy Director of Roscosmos for International Cooperation Sergey Savelyev.
"Yes, a session of the Global Interaction Forum will be held on June 16, which will be dedicated to the International Space Station," Savelyev said in response to a question about whether the future of the ISS will be discussed at GLEX - 2021.
According to the Deputy Director General, the session was initiated by the University of Copenhagen (USA). It will focus on the prospects of manned space flights based on the results of 20 years of operation of the ISS. "The discussion will be attended, in particular, by American astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegria and Hero of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation, Soviet and Russian cosmonaut Sergei Konstantinovich Krikalev," Savelyev added.
The Global Space Exploration Conference was originally scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg on June 9-11, 2020, but was postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic. The Forum is held annually in different countries. This year it will be held in St. Petersburg from June 14 to 18.
