TEHRAN, May 28. /TASS/. The Iranian authorities are working on several satellites of domestic production, five of which are planned to be launched in the near future. This was reported on Friday by the IRNA news agency.
First of all, we are talking about launching satellites into low Earth orbit - from 160 to 2 thousand km. For this purpose, work is underway on the satellites "Nahid-1", "Nahid-2", "Simorg", "Tolo", "Zuljenah", "Pars-1" and "Zafar-2".
In addition, devices are being developed that are planned to be put into a sun-synchronous orbit of the Earth (about 800 km). Also, in the near future, the Iranian authorities plan to launch a satellite to an altitude of 36 thousand km, that is, to a geosynchronous orbit.
The launch of a number of satellites is possible before the end of the presidential term of Hassan Rouhani, which expires at the end of August 2021.
On February 6, 2020, the head of the Iranian Space Agency, Morteza Barari, said that Tehran has the technology to create third-generation carriers. According to him, after 2023, Iran will be able to use the Sorush rocket to launch satellites to an altitude of 36 thousand km, that is, to a geosynchronous orbit.
