Sochi. May 27. INTERFAX-The armed forces should receive enough high-precision long-range weapons, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"The analysis of military conflicts of the last decades, the experience of the development of the world's leading armies shows what a growing role is played by the effective use of, say, cruise missiles of various bases, as well as guided munitions. And it is important that our army and navy are sufficiently equipped with such modern high-precision weapons, " Putin said at a meeting in Sochi on Thursday.
According to him, one of the topics of the meeting will be "the prospects for the development and mass production of high-precision long-range weapons and other modern strike weapons."
"Now the troops have and are receiving the latest long-range cruise missiles "X-101", "Caliber", ballistic and cruise missiles of the operational-tactical complex "Iskander", multiple rocket launchers, guided bombs of different calibers, " the President said.
According to him, these types of weapons in their characteristics are not inferior and often surpass foreign models, and in a number of indicators "are unique".
"This was also confirmed in real combat operations - during operations against terrorists in Syria," the head of state added.
Kalibr is a family of modern Russian cruise missiles. Developed by OKB "Novator" (part of JSC "Concern of East Kazakhstan Region "Almaz-Antey").
"Calibres" are equipped with modern ships and submarines of the Russian Navy.
These cruise missiles were used by the Russian military against militants in Syria. The strikes were carried out from the waters of the Mediterranean and Caspian Seas.
The X-101 is a new generation of high-precision long-range air cruise missiles. Russian strategic aviation launched X-101 missiles at militants in Syria. The Russian military leadership stated that the range of the X-101 is up to 4.5 thousand km. There is a variant of this cruise missile with a thermonuclear warhead-X-102.
