The Kalashnikov Group of companies published footage of flight tests of guided missiles "Whirlwind". 22 launches from the Ka-52 Alligator helicopter took place at the Russian Defense Ministry training ground.
The minute-long video shows a rotorcraft with two launchers of six missiles each firing at target tanks. In addition, the shooting, as already written by "RG", was conducted on a concrete wall with a thickness of about 50-70 centimeters. The tests took place in March of this year.
The Vikhr missiles were put into service in the late 1980s, and they are now being actively improved. In particular, thanks to the improvements made, the probability of hitting the target during short-range launches has increased, and stability in flight has been increased. The speed of the missile is 610 meters per second, it is capable of destroying targets at a distance of 800 to 10 thousand meters and piercing armor with a thickness of 75 centimeters.
In April, the Kalashnikov Group of Companies prematurely handed over the Vikhr-1 guided missiles to the Russian Defense Ministry as part of a state contract.
