Mini-submarine
Soon, the elite unit of " navy seals "of the US Navy will receive at its disposal a" dry " submarine – Dry Combat Submersible (DCS). Such an unusual name means that we are talking about a sealed mini-submarine, where the commandos going on special missions will be in comfortable conditions, as on a conventional submarine. The weight of the vessel is only 30 tons, and up to eight commandos can be on board during the day.
Small submarines began to be actively used during the Second World War as a means of delivering saboteur divers operating against enemy ships. Currently, they deliver small groups of naval special forces to the enemy-occupied coast, while larger ships are at a safe distance from it. Today, the main vehicle of the Navy Seals is the Mark VIII SEAL mini-submarine. However, unlike the DCS, this is a "wet" submarine, that is, it is not leaky, so the commandos inside are forced to be in scuba gear and wetsuits. On the one hand, this simplifies the design of the submarine, and on the other-it is an extra burden on underwater swimmers.
