The F-15EX Eagle II fighter of the US Air Force, considered an analogue of the Russian Su-57, is likely to receive a new "very long" range air-to-air missile, reports The Drive.
The publication recalls that currently the largest missile that can carry the F-15EX Eagle II is the improved AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM), the modernization potential of which is almost exhausted.
The Drive writes that it was previously assumed that this fighter would carry only air-to-ground missiles, including hypersonic ones. The publication concludes that equipping the aircraft with new weapons will allow it, in particular, to operate directly on the border of the enemy zone of restriction and prohibition of access and maneuver.
The Drive admits that the new missile for the F-15EX Eagle II will be an American response to the corresponding Russian and Chinese developments.
In April, the publication, referring to the developer of the radar station, Michel Stychinsky from Raytheon, reported that the F-15EX Eagle II fighter received probably the most powerful radar in the world for this type of aircraft.
