The speed of the Starlink satellite Internet has reached a record high. This is reported by the publication Wccftech.
The results of the speed measurement were shared by a user from Germany. He published the data obtained using the Ookla Speed Test service on Reddit . According to the information, during the first test, the data download speed reached 542 megabits per second, the download speed stopped at 38.8 megabits per second with a delay of nine milliseconds. An hour later, the user conducted a second test, according to the results of which the download speed via the Internet of Elon Musk was fixed at a record 560 megabits per second, but the delay increased to 13 milliseconds.
At the request of the commenters on Reddit, the author cleared the cookies from his browser, which, however, did not reduce the speed of data transfer.
According to experts, the speed of data transmission via Starlink satellites can vary and depends on many factors. One of them is the number of subscribers simultaneously connected to a certain chain of satellites. Also, the performance of Starlink is affected by terrestrial networks.
The debut group of satellites of the global network project Starlink was launched in May 2019. First of all, Starlink is focused on sparsely populated areas with a low level of network infrastructure coverage.
In April, the first satellite Internet subscribers noticed that the maximum speed of 200 megabits per second was reached. In February, Elon Musk promised that by the end of 2021, the speed of Starlink will be doubled.
