Beijing. May 19. INTERFAX-A representative of the command of the Eastern Military District of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) on Wednesday protested in connection with the next passage of a US warship through the Taiwan Strait.
"The actions of the United States send the wrong signals to the pro-independence forces of Taiwan, deliberately aggravating the situation in the region, thereby jeopardizing peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait area," he said.
He added that the Chinese military tracked and controlled the passage of the ship throughout its passage through the strait.
As previously stated by the US Seventh Fleet, its guided-missile destroyer on Tuesday made a "normal transit passage through the Taiwan Strait" in accordance with international law.
