The Pacific Fleet will receive this submarine in November
Moscow. May 18. INTERFAX-Mooring tests of the diesel-electric submarine of the project 636.3 "Magadan" for the Pacific Fleet will be completed in early June of this year, the crew of the submarine is involved in them, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports.
"The tests, which are underway at the Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg, will be completed in early June. After the end of mooring tests, the ship will go to the factory sea trials, the completion of which is scheduled for the Day of the Navy, " the report says.
"Magadan" - the third submarine in a series of six units of non-nuclear submarines of project 636.3 for the Pacific Fleet (TOF) of the Russian Federation, was launched on March 26, 2021 in a high, 91%, degree of readiness.
"Currently, the fourth submarine of the Pacific series "Ufa" has been docked, and the ship's strong hull is being welded. The construction of a series of submarines for the Pacific Fleet is in accordance with contractual obligations. The third boat of the series, the Magadan, will be transferred to the Russian Navy in November this year, and the fourth ship, the Ufa, is scheduled to be launched by the end of 2021, " the press release says.
The contract for the construction of the series was signed in September 2016. The first ship "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky" was transferred to the Russian Navy on November 25, 2019. The submarine "Volkhov", the second in the series, became part of the Pacific Fleet on October 24, 2020, the report said.
In March, the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Nikolai Evmenov, said that this year two more diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.3 "Mozhaisk" and "Yakutsk" will be laid down for the submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet at the Admiralty Shipyards.
"Active construction works of Ufa are underway. The entire series of six units of non-nuclear submarines of Project 636.3 will be built and transferred to the Pacific Fleet until 2024, which will significantly strengthen its component of carriers of high-precision missile weapons, " Evmenov said at the time.
In 2016, the construction of the first six diesel-electric submarines of the project for the Russian Black Sea Fleet was completed. These submarines participated in a military operation in Syria-they attacked militants from the Mediterranean Sea with cruise missiles.
Project 636.3 submarines are equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles (developed by the Novator Design Bureau, Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region).
