TSAMTO, May 18. Russian shipbuilders use all modern technologies to reduce radar visibility, Vladimir Pospelov, a member of the board of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation, a member of the Marine Board under the government, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"This direction will develop, but we need to clearly understand that the ship is not a needle. The capabilities of the orbital groups and aerial reconnaissance allow us to detect any ship, " he said.
The task of reducing radar visibility is solved in different ways, primarily by the architecture of the ship itself.
"Our destroyers or missile cruisers of the previous series resembled a hedgehog, studded with dozens of antennas. On corvettes, we switched to an integrated mast. All the antennas are hidden in the superstructure, " explained V. Pospelov.
Another way to reduce visibility is the use of composite materials and special paint coatings.
In addition to satellite reconnaissance, the location of the ship, built using stealth technologies, helps to calculate its activity in the radio air. According to a member of the board of the Military-Industrial Commission, the ship can not constantly go in radio silence mode.
"As soon as some radiating device is turned on, it will be detected by means of electronic intelligence," the expert explained.
"Stealth is needed, mainly, when the ship was attacked by anti-ship missiles with radar homing heads. In parallel, this task is being successfully solved in other ways, including by means of electronic warfare, "RIA Novosti quotes V. Pospelov.
