Tank
It is no secret that the" service life " of modern military technologies is limited to a few years, after which they are replaced by new ones, and this creates enormous problems when upgrading existing equipment and weapons.
In this regard, the specialists of the US Army C5ISR Army Center decided to develop a new approach that allows you to upgrade a significantly outdated tank fleet with minimal technical, time and financial costs. Briefly, it can be characterized by the well-known phrase "plug-and – play" - "plug and play". In fact, thanks to the new approach, the updating of the main electronic systems of the tank – navigation, radio communication and electronic warfare-is simplified as much as possible by using the modular principle.

The C5ISR Center has already developed the CMOSS Modular Suite (C4ISR/EW Modular Open Suite of Standards), which is a system with an open architecture and a set of slots, to which you can connect additional extensions, such as installing a new video card on a PC or replacing game cartridges in the Nintendo 64. According to C4ISRNET, with the introduction of CMOSS, the US Army will be able to optimize the process of upgrading tanks based on modern digital technologies for many years to come.
