Multi-purpose fighters of the fourth generation J-10C, equipped with local WS-10B Taihang engines instead of the Russian AL-31F series, began to enter service with the Air Forces of the People's Liberation Army of China, the Defense News publication reports, commenting on the pictures of the aircraft with a new power unit that appeared on the network.
"The confirmation of the presence of the J-10 with an engine of its own production represents a key milestone for the Chinese aviation industry and indicates that the country is now satisfied with the performance and reliability of the WS-10," the publication says.
In June 2020, The Drive edition, citing the Chinese press and its own sources, stated that China has learned to create its own engines for the fifth-generation J-20 fighters, which, compared to its previous developments, have improved stealth characteristics, greater power and a controlled thrust vector.
In November 2018, the user East Pendulum posted a video on Twitter, which shows the performance of the J-10B fighter (with a Russian engine installed on it) during demonstration flights at the AirShow China 2018 exhibition of aerobatics "Pugachev's cobra" and "maple leaf".
