Moscow. May 13. INTERFAX-The calculations of the Iskander-M operational and tactical missile systems (OTRK) have worked out the destruction of important objects of the imaginary enemy during exercises in the Kaliningrad region, the Baltic Fleet (BF) said on Thursday.
"Having received the coordinates, the calculations of the Iskander-M OTRK destroyed the command posts and satellite communication nodes of the imaginary enemy, performing training (electronic) launches of cruise missiles," the report says.
During the exercise, the Iskander-M OTRK crews marched to the designated area along dirt roads and rough terrain, overcoming natural obstacles, conditionally infected areas and maneuvering in a limited space, the BF headquarters informs.
According to him, about 100 military personnel, more than 20 pieces of equipment of the missile connection of the army corps of the fleet were involved in the exercises.
"Iskander-M" was developed in the Kolomna Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering (holding "High-precision Complexes"). In the version for the Russian army, the complex includes two types of missiles: ballistic and cruise.
The range of the Iskander-M missiles was officially called - up to 500 km. It was reported that the missiles of the complex can carry a nuclear warhead. The complex is in service with the missile brigades of the Russian Land Forces. "Iskander-M" replaced the operational and tactical complex "Tochka-U".
