The M1128 combat vehicles in service with the US ground forces, created on the platform of the Stryker armored personnel carriers, are going to be completely written off by the end of next year.
Judging by the reports that appeared on the Network, despite many years of operation in specialized brigades, they did not manage to solve a number of design problems, for example, with an automated gun loading system. It not only has a relatively small ammunition supply (only 18 shells), but also constantly fails.
These "wheeled tanks" were previously often criticized for the lack of firepower of the 105-mm gun, which is practically powerless against most modern main tanks. Security is also considered insufficient, especially against mines and improvised explosive devices.
The combat weight of such an armored car is 18770 kg, the engine power is 350 hp. The maximum speed on the highway is about 100 km / h. Fuel reserve-480 km.
There are also two machine guns - 12.7-mm anti-aircraft and 7.62-mm. Crew - 3 people.
According to military experts, the M1128 after decommissioning will be transferred to the allies of the Americans. So, the Stryker armored personnel carriers that have become redundant have already been delivered to Thailand.
Stories to come on the Army scrapping its Stryker Mobile Gun Systems by the end of FY22 due to obsolescence issues AND the Army just had a successful 400K Precision Strike Munition shot at White Sands this AM.
