The first batch of upgraded 2S3M "Acacia" self-propelled artillery units has been handed over to the Russian Defense Ministry.
According to TASS, the combat vehicle received improved means of communication, and automation - domestic devices and components. Self-propelled howitzers are also fully equipped with transported spare parts, tools and accessories.
Earlier it was reported that after the update, the vehicles received a new automated guidance and fire control system. Thanks to special digital devices and a satellite navigation system, the ability to destroy the enemy has significantly increased and the probability of hitting the enemy with return fire has decreased.
The maximum firing range of active-rocket projectiles is up to 20.5 kilometers. It is possible to use high-precision ammunition with laser guidance. The maximum speed on the highway is 60 kilometers per hour. The combat weight of the vehicle is more than 27 tons, and the crew is four people.
Recall that the 152-mm self-propelled gun "Acacia" adopted in 1971 took an active part in the war in Afghanistan, the Iran-Iraq War, as well as in the conflicts in the post-Soviet space. Now the artillery installations are used by government forces in Syria.
