The Russian military has begun tracking a ship of the French Navy that entered the Black Sea. This was announced on May 11 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

According to the Montreux Convention, the time spent by ships of countries that do not have access to the Black Sea in its waters is limited to 21 days.
Earlier in the day, a Russian Su-30 fighter intercepted two combat aircraft and a French tanker over the Black Sea. The aerial targets were identified as two Mirage 2000 tactical aircraft and one French Air Force C-135 tanker aircraft.
On May 10, the US Coast Guard frigate Hamilton entered the port of Odessa on May 10 after completing maneuvers with a Ukrainian warship in the Black Sea. On April 22, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the United States and NATO continue provocative activities in the Black Sea region.
