TSAMTO, May 11. Elbit Systems Ltd. announced the successful completion of the acceptance tests of the new patrol boats of the Greek Coast Guard.
The company announced the signing of a contract with the Italian Cantiere Navale Vittoria SpA for the supply of combat system kits and their integration on board the new patrol boats of the Greek Coast Guard in March 2019. The delivery was required to be completed within two years. The agreement includes a five-year warranty.
Acceptance tests were conducted in the Aegean Sea and included testing the integration of combat systems and subsystems on board the boats, as well as live firing tests of onboard remotely controlled weapons modules.
The set of systems delivered and integrated by Elbit Systems includes the SPECTRO XR electron-optical payload, radar, navigation systems, the automatic identification system of warships (W-AIS), remote-controlled weapons modules, as well as full integration with the command and combat control system software. The set of combat systems is designed to support the long-term integration of air and surface unmanned systems on the "plug and play" principle, which will expand the range of patrol boats far beyond the line of sight.
As reported by TSAMTO, in January 2019, the Ministry of Merchant Marine and Island Policy of Greece, on behalf of the Coast Guard of the country, signed a contract with the Italian shipbuilding company Cantiere Navale Vittoria for the supply of three patrol boats. The contractor was selected based on the results of an international tender. The cost of the agreement was 42 million euros ($48 million).
