TSAMTO, May 11. Estonian company Milrem Robotics has announced the signing of a distribution and maintenance agreement with the Australian company XTEK Ltd., as well as the delivery of the first ground-based remote-controlled machine THeMIS.
The THeMIS DOOM will be used by XTEK Ltd. for testing, evaluation, and demonstration. To date, including Australia, THeMIS vehicles have been purchased by 11 countries, seven of which, including Estonia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States, are members of NATO.
Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding late last year, Milrem Robotics entered into an agreement with XTEK Ltd. to grant it exclusive rights to sell the THeMIS DOOM, the Type-X combat DOOM, and the Smart Feature Integration kit in Australia and New Zealand.
According to the managing director of XTEK Ltd, Philippe Audouard, the THeMIS platform is suitable for a wide range of tasks in the Australian Armed Forces, especially in the Ground Forces. It is also an ideal platform for demonstrating AirWolf's "shooter detection system" software, which will enable the transmission of target data from UAVs to combat DUMAS like THeMIS.
The company's existing maintenance facilities include a logistics business unit based in Canberra, where a team of technicians and instructors with extensive experience in servicing Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) robots will provide maintenance for the machines developed by Milrem Robotics.
As reported by TSAMTO, the Estonian company, also in cooperation with the Australian Electro Optic Systems (EOS), has implemented a project to equip the THEMIS DUM with a remote-controlled weapon module R400S Mk.2-HD. DUM with this system was first presented at the IDEX-2019 exhibition in Abu Dhabi at the end of February 2019.
The DUMV version of the R400S-Mk2-D-HD with two types of weapons is equipped with a 30-mm M230LF "Bushmaster" gun and a 7.62-mm machine gun, as well as a sighting and observation unit.
