American pilots can now see targets in full color. Yesterday, May 5, the press service of Northrop Grumman announced the delivery of advanced LITENING guidance modules to the US Air Force and National Guard.
The key feature of the new LITENING modules is the transmission of streaming color video. Northrop Grumman points out that this gives "an unprecedented level of situational awareness and confidence in targeting."

"LITENING's color video capability gives pilots a clearer picture of the battle space, making targeting faster and more accurate. The LITENING module can display up to three different images simultaneously, allowing operators to see color and infrared video simultaneously, " said James Conroy, vice president of Northrop Grumman.

Northrop Grumman has delivered more than 900 LITENING capsules to the United States and partner countries around the world. The color version is the fourth generation of the LITENING guidance modules. At the same time, according to the developers, previous versions of LITENING can be updated to the latest version thanks to the modular design.
