Japanese media have become interested in Russian Arctic military equipment based on the DT-30 Vityaz all-terrain vehicle. According to experts, these are not only powerful machines, but also a means to achieve geopolitical goals.
The portal Yahoo News Japan (translation of the publication provides "InoSMI") calls the Arctic military all-terrain vehicles DT-30 giant tracked SUVs.
The two-section tracked all-terrain vehicle "Vityaz" has a large surface contact area and is designed for use in difficult climatic conditions of the Far North. It can be used in swampy areas, off-road areas and virgin snow at temperatures from-50°C to + 40°C.
The publication notes that the car combines the features of land transport and amphibious vehicles. Initially, the all-terrain vehicle was developed for army needs, but it turned out to be in demand and "in civilian life" for working in hard-to-reach areas.
The DT-30 has a payload capacity of 30 tons and can carry five people in the cabin. The car uses a 710 horsepower engine that can be started at -50 degrees. The Vityaz can reach speeds of up to 37 km / h on land and up to 5 km / h on water. At the same time, the DT-30 can be equipped with the "Pantsir SA" and "Tor M2DT" complexes. "Vityaz" can even be turned into a powerful self-propelled mortar "2S39 Magnolia".
The article also mentions a comprehensive test of all-terrain vehicles during a long polar expedition, during which the vehicles passed 2400 km.
The author of the publication emphasizes the growing importance of the Arctic territories. It is noted, in particular, that due to global warming, people here get access to previously unused natural resources. The Northern Sea Route is also becoming more attractive. Thus, these territories play an increasingly important role in geopolitics. And the powerful Arctic technology will allow Russia to protect its national interests in this region.
