According to the agency's interlocutor in the military-industrial complex, this will happen after a floating dock is delivered there from Russia
MOSCOW, April 30. /TASS/. Equipped in Tartus in the point of logistics support (PMTO) The Russian Navy ship repair complex in 2022 will receive new opportunities for the repair of ships and submarines after a floating dock is delivered there. This was reported to TASS by a source in the military-industrial complex.
"At the moment, the workshops only carry out servicing of ships in the far sea zone by visiting crews of one of the ship repair plants. In 2022, a floating dock will be delivered to Tartus from Russia, after which the capabilities of this complex will significantly expand and it will be able to repair ships and submarines, " he said.
TASS has no official confirmation of this information.
Until now, submarines of the Black Sea Fleet after periodic combat services as part of the Permanent Task Force of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea are forced to undergo repairs at ship repair enterprises in the north-west of Russia. The necessary repairs of the ships of the Mediterranean Squadron were provided by the floating workshops of the Black Sea and Baltic Fleets, which were on duty in Tartus on the principle of rotation, which were not normally part of the PMTO.
To equip the new ship repair complex in Tartus, created by the fall of 2019, the most modern machine tools were purchased.
