The M1 Abrams is the best American tank, says 19FortyFive.
The publication recalls that the development of the M1 Abrams began in the 1970s to ensure superiority over Soviet tanks. According to 19FortyFive, even almost 40 years after its creation, the M1 Abrams, which has undergone various upgrades, "is considered one of the best tanks in the world."
The American publication claims that the M1 Abrams performed well, in particular, in the war for the liberation of Kuwait (1990-1991). 19FortyFive writes that during the conflict, only 18 tanks were put out of action due to combat damage, another nine were irretrievably lost, and no tankers were injured. The publication notes that the losses of Soviet-made equipment were much greater.
"The M1 Abrams was superior to the Soviet T-55, T-62 and even T-72 tanks," the publication says.
In October 2019 , TASS, referring to the acting head of the 47th military mission Dmitry Repin, reported that the Russian T-72 tank in 2019 at Uralvagonzavod began to be updated to the T-72B3 version, which is distinguished by Russian thermal imagers.
In February, military expert Alexey Khlopotov assured that the Russian main tank T-72B3 is inferior in its capabilities to the Ukrainian modernized T-64BV, and therefore, if the second combat vehicle is considered a "tank for the poor", then the first will be a "tank for the poor".
