At the Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation), the launch ceremony of the mine defense ship "Pyotr Ilyichev" of project 12700 was held.
The ceremony was attended by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC "United Shipbuilding Corporation" Georgy Poltavchenko, Vice-President of JSC "United Shipbuilding Corporation" Vladimir Korolev, General Director of JSC "SNSZ" Vladimir Seredokho, General Director of the Central Marine Design Bureau "Almaz" Alexander Shlyakhtenko, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Mikhail Romanov, as well as employees and veterans of JSC "SNSZ".
The right to break a traditional bottle of champagne on the hull of the ship was granted to the honored employee of the plant – the head of the department of computer-aided design systems Alexandra Kiryushkina.
In his speech to the shipbuilders, the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, noted that " The Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard has fully mastered the serial construction of mine defense ships of the 12700 project, which have excellent characteristics in their class and have repeatedly proved this by performing a wide range of tasks as part of the Navy»
"The Main Command of the Russian Navy is considering ordering another series of mine defense ships of the project 12700. There are never too many ships... I think we will additionally order a series of these kings. They meet the challenges and threats at sea, "said the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, at the launch ceremony of the PMO ship "Pyotr Ilyichev" at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard.
The commander-in-chief of the Navy also stressed that " the ships of the project "have a large modernization reserve. When creating the project 12700, the most advanced technologies were used and these ships have no analogues in the world. The St. Andrew's flag on the Pyotr Ilyichev will be raised this year - earlier than planned."
