Moscow. April 28. INTERFAX-The Russian diesel-electric submarine Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (built for the Pacific Fleet) has carried out training torpedo firing from an underwater position in the Baltic Sea, the Russian Baltic Fleet said on Wednesday.
"The crew of the submarine successfully completed the assigned tasks and fired a torpedo weapon from an underwater position at a conditional sea target, which was imitated at an acceptable safe distance by the small anti-submarine ship Aleksin," the press service of the fleet said in a statement.
According to the military, the shooting was carried out with practical torpedoes. After the events were completed, all the torpedoes were lifted out of the water by the torpedo boat.
The firing was carried out by warships and rescue vessels, as well as naval aviation of the Baltic Fleet, the report says.
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is a submarine built for the Pacific Fleet. It was reported that two submarines - "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky" and "Volkhov" - are working out tasks in the Baltic before moving to the location of the Pacific Fleet.
The contract for the construction of this series of submarines was signed in September 2016. The first ship, the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, was transferred to the Russian Navy on November 25, 2019. The Volkhov submarine, the second in the series, joined the fleet on October 24, 2020.
On March 26, another project submarine, the Magadan, was launched in St. Petersburg. It should be handed over to the Russian Navy in November this year.
"This year, two more diesel-electric submarines of project 636.3 "Mozhaisk" and "Yakutsk" will be laid down for the submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet at the Admiralty Shipyards. Active construction work is underway in Ufa. The entire series of six units of non-nuclear submarines of Project 636.3 will be built and transferred to the Pacific Fleet until 2024, which will significantly strengthen its component of carriers of high-precision missile weapons, " Navy Commander-in-Chief Nikolai Evmenov said in March.

The speed of underwater travel - 18 knots. Crew - 52 people.
In 2016, the construction of the first six diesel-electric submarines of the project for the Russian Black Sea Fleet was completed. These submarines participated in a military operation in Syria-they attacked militants from the Mediterranean Sea with cruise missiles.
