"In the near future, the Russian Defense Ministry plans to create a specialized department for the development of artificial intelligence," the report says.
On April 26, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Military-Industrial Commission Andrey Yelchaninov and member of the board of the Military-Industrial Commission Sergey Smirnov made a working trip to the design bureau of the Sukhoi company, during which they got acquainted with innovative methods of testing samples of unmanned aircraft, visited a number of new test stands and held a meeting of the working group on the development of complexes with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for military purposes.
During the meeting of the working group, the directions and ways of intellectualization of complexes and systems with UAVs, group application and use of artificial intelligence technologies were considered.
The meeting participants agreed to improve joint efforts aimed at accelerating the development of unmanned civil aviation in the country and the introduction of artificial intelligence for military purposes, according to a government statement.
In December last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin drew attention to the fact that the technical modernization of the army and navy requires the introduction of new forms and methods of action of the troops. In this regard, the head of state called for the development of military science, adopting the experience of modern armed conflicts and local wars, and at the same time focusing on the future.
