The crew of the large landing ship "Ivan Gren" conducted exercises in the Barents Sea, the press service of the Northern Fleet said on July 24.
The trip to the sea was held to work out the coordinated actions of the crew and check the ship's weapons.
"Before going to sea, the sailors worked out a joint exercise with the Marines of the Northern Fleet to liberate the Russian marine object of economic activity in the Arctic captured by extremists — a conditional drilling platform," the navy noted.
Training actions were practiced in the Kola Bay at the final stage of the interspecific command and staff exercise to resolve crisis situations in the Arctic in the Northern Fleet. The exercises were held under the command of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.
At the end of March, the frigate "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Alexander Gorshkov" successfully conducted artillery firing in the Barents Sea. The frigate fired a missile system at a coastal target on Novaya Zemlya.
In 2019, Russia began the construction of mine defense ships, which have no analogues in the world. A year earlier, the Northern Fleet received the newest large landing ship "Ivan Gren" - the lead ship of the project.
