The head of Rostec said that the robotic version of the Russian tank, thanks to artificial intelligence, will find targets on its own
MOSCOW, April 24. /TASS/. The robotic version of the Russian T-14 Armata tank, thanks to artificial intelligence, will find targets by itself, but a person will authorize the shooting. This was announced on Saturday by the head of the state corporation "Rostec" Sergey Chemezov on the air of the program "Vesti on Saturday" with Sergey Brilev on the TV channel "Russia-1".
"The Armata tank can be used both with a crew and without a crew - the robot will control the tank <...> it will choose the target itself. But then press the button, shoot or not shoot <...> of course, this person already makes a decision, " he said.
The T-14 tank, developed by the Uralvagonzavod concern, was first demonstrated at the parade on May 9, 2015. In 2019, it passed the preliminary tests. Its main innovation is an uninhabited tower. The crew is located in an isolated armored capsule in the tank body, from where they remotely control the weapons. This significantly reduces the likelihood of the crew dying in combat. There is also an unmanned version of the "Armata". However, there are no plans to make it serial, it is planned to work out unmanned technologies for other ground robots.
