More than 20 ships of the Black Sea Fleet returned to their permanent deployment points after participating in exercises near the Crimea at the Opuk training ground. This was reported on Friday, April 23, by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"In accordance with the instructions of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, the troops of the Southern Military District (SE) and the Airborne Troops (Airborne Forces) involved in the events of the surprise check and interspecific exercises at the Opuk training ground (Republic of Crimea), have begun to return to the points of permanent deployment," the report says.
As specified in the Ministry of Defense, at the moment, military units and formations make marches to the points of permanent deployment in a combined way with a length of more than 1 thousand km. Troops will be delivered by landing ships, railway platforms and military transport aircraft (VTA). The equipment will be transported on railway trains.
"On the coast of the Opuk training ground, after the march on the regular equipment, the units of the Marine corps of the Caspian Flotilla and the Black Sea Fleet loaded into large landing ships and began to transfer to the points of permanent deployment. The movement will also take place in a combined way: by sea, by rail and by mechanized columns, " the ministry said.
Major interspecific exercises of the Russian Armed Forces were held on April 22 at the Crimean Opuk training ground. They were attended by more than 10 thousand military personnel, 1.2 thousand pieces of equipment, as well as 40 warships. The exercises were held as part of the control check of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for the winter training period.
As Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted on April 22, the personnel of the Southern Military District and the Airborne Forces successfully implemented all the tasks assigned to them during the exercises in the Crimea.
The control check of the Russian Armed Forces is carried out during the winter training period in all military districts, including the Northern Fleet. In the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, it is planned to conduct more than 4 thousand exercises of various scales.
On April 6, the head of the Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, said that the Russian Armed Forces (AF) started control checks of combat readiness.
On April 13, the Russian military department reported that in accordance with the training plan of the Russian Armed Forces, 4,048 exercises of various scales will be held in military command bodies, formations and military units during April.
