MOSCOW, April 23. /TASS/. Interspecific command and staff exercises, such as those completed in the Northern Fleet, will now take place every year. This was reported on Friday in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"We will conduct such exercises annually on each of the fleets. This will allow us to fully and very specifically assess both the actions of the fleet commands and the actions of the forces of each of the fleets and the Caspian Flotilla in their operational area of responsibility, " the Russian military department quoted the words of the commander-in-chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.
According to the commander-in-chief, the main attention during the exercise was paid to " ensuring the security of the state's economic activities in the Arctic zone, conducting rescue operations and providing assistance at sea, as well as resolving possible crisis situations in the event of their occurrence, protecting and defending maritime communications."
The exercises in the Northern Fleet were conducted as part of a comprehensive check of the Russian Armed Forces for the winter training period, which took place throughout the past week.
