To search for forest fires, units of the Central Military District will use unmanned aerial vehicles. Calculations of the Orlan-10 reconnaissance drones conducted exercises on such use of special equipment, and at the same time monitored the situation in the fire-hazardous areas of the Kemerovo region.

There are no large pockets of wildfires there yet. But, as local residents, including the military, know, the "fire" season in the region will soon begin. Without waiting for him, the army specialists began preparing to extinguish the forests. The operators of the Orlan-10 reconnaissance drones also joined this work.

"Their use significantly reduces the time to obtain reliable information about forest fires. In addition, the "air scout" can detect even small fires with a thermal imager, and video cameras and special on-board equipment allow you to transmit information in real time to the operator of the complex. The data obtained significantly helps in coordinating the work of ground groups equipped with fire extinguishing equipment, " the press service of the Central Military District explained.

They added that more than 100 military personnel are involved in monitoring forest fires in the Kemerovo region. About 10 units of military and special equipment are involved in this operation.

The Orlan-10 drone operates at temperatures from minus 30 to plus 40 degrees. With a launch weight of 14-18 kilograms, it is capable of carrying a payload of five kilograms. This load includes replaceable modules with a thermal imaging camera, a color video camera on a gyro-stabilized rotary platform, a camera, and relay equipment.

Launched from a collapsible catapult, the Orlan-10 can climb to an altitude of five thousand meters, fly at a speed of up to 170 kilometers per hour and broadcast a picture to the operator's console in real time from a distance of 120 km. The drone is also able to issue target designations to fire weapons, block cellular communications, and distort the GPS navigation field. And it can also be used to simultaneously control four other drones and combine up to 30 operators into a local network to manage payloads of simultaneously launched drones.
